was a fun day.. although HypoTJ had some bad luck...

We all met up on time.. EVEN ME for a change.. although I only lived 10 minutes up the road from the meeting point hehe.. how cool
I got up at 7am.and took my time getting ready.. never had that luxury before a Sunshine Coast Jeep CLub trip before
Well.. we headed off..I was convoy leader for the intial trip to beaudessert.. which was cool..I felt important..
we got down the road a few Km and pulled up again to allow COlin to fuel up. all our jeeps *someone else add in the total Im too stuffed to work it all out right now* we kinda blocked the service road but oh well.
We finally got to beaudessert where colin took over the reigns of trip leader and we all happilly followed him in line like ducks crossing a road.
Once we arrived the people at CITY VIEW greeted us at the house and gave us a run down of things to do and things tthey have planned for the future..best part of today was that they took the time to give us a guided tour and show us the potential.. which there was plenty.
and the best part.. NO BIKES.. let em have black duck
so we followed the jimny which by the way looked great with the modifications added, to the first little play area.. I made an attempt at what I thought looked like a slight little rock climb but once I lined myself up for it I realised it was a tad steeper than I thought..
I gave it a shot and failed.. so I thought Ill try the one to the left.. again I failed and somehow go close and personal with a tree as my back end kept sliding left.. took a few attempts to get out but eventually I did..
I forgot to mention we also tripped around with a group from fraser coast 4x4 club.. they seemed like a good fun bunch of people.. that liked to stir the pot.. and the JEEPS got thier share..but as JEEP owners we are use to it
I noticed everyone else went around the back of the little hillclimbs I had a shot at so I thought Id follow thier track.. WOOT WOOT I made it up.. so happy with myself now..
we parked up the top of the play area and watched everyone have a go..
poor hypotj had a shot at the rockclimb I failed and was doing well but ended up breaking something.. no idea what it was.. but it didnt sound good.. so they towed him out,while a few of the guys were unbolting his rear driveshaft the rest of us continued on with the guided tour.
basically we went down this hill and across the gully to some more rocks in which we could look back across at the people whoi stayed behind.. fantastic views I might add of the surrounding countryside.
we drove on and over this rock.. turned around and headed back the way we came.. although this time going up the hill wasnt as easy as comming down.. and by the time I got there (2nd last) it was a mess.. first I had a go with no lockers.. hmm nup not happening.
then with the rear.. hmmmmmmmm ok this stuff is soft and Im embarrassing myself now.
so I backed down and got some momentum behind me with both lockers on and bounced my way to the top.. thinking all the while I hope I make it hard for the LWB patrol which was to follow me.. but nah.. he made it look easy.
We HEaded back to camp for lunch ,a few of us went into town to get real food.. ie:KFC and fish and chips..
After lunch it was stage two of the adventure.. I thought bugger this Im not going last now.. so I go in behind out guides. ah sweet..the track up the hill behind the campground was not hard for a modified jeep but I could see it being a little more of a challenge for a stock one.. so I think GLEN did rather well in his cherro.
we got to the top and the guide said for me to keep going . so I did what I was told.. cause Im a good boy remember..
basically he sent me down and waited up top to give everyone the option if they wanted to drive the trail or not I assume.
the decent was fun and I must admit I love my new crawl speed with the new ratios.. hardly any need for braking now..
I got to the bottom and waited at the designated tree.. everyone else came down and we all parked around and had a look at some more spectacular views.. ok they werent spectacular. but they would have been if it wasnt so smokey.
I heard theguide egg one of the patrol drivers to have a go at the step ups to the left of the return trail.and I thought to myself.. bugger that.I wanna go first or Ill never stand a chance.. so I jumped the que and had my shot.
first attempt wasnt too sucessful but after a few goes and fine tuning of which line to attack I made it with only the rear locker in.. WOOT WOOT
that felt good.. and I made it harder for the patrol behind me I was hoping..
he didnt seem to have too much trouble though dangit..
then richard had a go.. but by the time he got his turn it was pretty well messed up.. unfortunately he didnt make it.. to much amusement of the other breed 4x4 owners..
but at least 1 jeep got there..
we headed hack up the hill and then back the track we came.. we all got to camp and IO decided that was enough for me today.. I was sunburnt and could feel a nice headache working its magic.
So brad(passenger)and myself said out farewells and headed off on our merry way
Id like to thank City View 4x4 park for allowing us to go out there and see what they have to offer. and I can safely say I will be back again for sure
